I have an canon u that should be supported by image capture but isn’t. So now I have a scanner which can be seen in ImageCapture jeej but gives an error when I want to use it.. In the bottom panel of System Profiler, it’s located at top and written in bold with a colon: I’m running OS Xsane on OS X. I would encourage others who have been burned by this to do the same! Once all packages are installed you must configure epson. Additionally, the solution was tested on Mac OS X After the save and restart, Image Capture does not see acanner scanner.

I’m a bit financially-challenged at the moment, so I was really hoping for an open source or free solution. After reading my post, I realise the simplest thing to do is to replace the “Product Identification string” of a supported scanner close to your own, in file DeviceMatchingInfo.
Everything was working fine with the downloaded Epson drivers for the printing, but their scanning software which is supposedly for the Intel Macs wouldn’t run.

Cd3810 don’t know from all that, and thought there might be something I could just simply install. I hate to say it, but the best bet is probably one of the newer HP all-in-ones; they cost roughly the same as this printer and the print quality isn’t bad.
